OVATION -- A Tribute To The American Musical Theatre was a project with two purposes: to introduce and train students in the performance form of Musical Theatre, in contrast to choral or Pop genres, and to prepare students for Competition and future performance projects. Songs, performed in context, were culled from over a dozen American musicals.
Scenically, the set was just levels of platforms and steps, with a Grand piano up center, a cyc, and suspended panels being back-lit by colour changers. The feeling was clean and simple, but classy like a PBS "In Concert" program.
