Dancing at Lughnasa

Set and Lighting Design by Jon Ares.

December 2008.

“Dancing at Lughnasa” was such a beautiful show… and staging it in the WLHS Black Box Studio Theatre required a degree of detail that was a great experience for the students, both on stage, as well as those who helped build and paint it.

The set was to look like stucco, or rather the materials Irish countryside homes were built of. Thick walls, and a mixture of fieldstone and stucco were the order. To change it up a bit, and to give the family home a bit of its own history, I designed it as if at one point it had a small addition built.
