Picasso At the Lapin Agile

Set, Lighting, & Projection Design by Jon Ares.

Fall 2008.

Written by Steve Martin.

Directed by Jessica Middleton Murray, Costume Design by Annie Kaiser, Sound Design by Corbin Wescott.

I was really excited to be doing “Picasso.” I think Steve Martin is a very witty playwright, and this play succeeds on so many levels. We wanted to focus on Martin’s words, and the the work of the actors saying them, so less scenery was certainly more for this show. This show has enough technical challenges (I mean, “opportunities”) so we chose to focus our energies there. And, there was a chance we might be taking this show to the Hult Center in Eugene to perform at the State Thespian Conference. (An opportunity we accepted – and our production was very well received.)
